"The Rookery" is a place of wonder. Built in 2001, it is an oasis on Sanibel. The home has been complete refurbished in 2005.
Our new home is a 3 bedroom,2 bath delight. It is 1,700 sq feet with an additional 300 plus feet of balcony and a 845 sq ' lanai which sports a heated pool.

What surrounds your "home away from home"?

The saying that greets you upon entering is "Donde tiempo viaja suavemente como ondas en la playa" or "Where time travels softly like waves on the beach" True to the saying you will find casual relaxation and peace in this place. We are approximately a fifteen minute walk to the Bowman Beach. For those who know Sanibel, the longest, best shelling and least crowded beach on Sanibel. Two bikes are offered for those who like to pedal. The view from our beautiful pool is a lazy bayou and just like the name "The Rookery" implies tropical birds are in view. Just to sit on the comfortable lanai and listen to them coo is peaceful and relaxing.

All furniture and accessories are new 2005. Our vision is as follows: Our tiled great room with full corner kitchen will welcome you to sit down and take off your shoes. This room is a bright yellow intensified by the white cove molding that is continued throughout the house. It is decorated with off white cottage furniture plus accents of rattan and wicker. The theme is tropical birds and plants. Much greenery and floral accents grace the room along with an oversized striking magnolia painting. Your living area contains a large sized TV (this is a home theater with surround sound) ,VCR, DVD and CD. The kitchen which looks out on the living area is fit for a chef as it includes extras like a butcher block island, stove with flat cooking surface, self cleaning oven, microwave, refrigerator with ice maker, separate freezer, trash compactor and of course dishwasher. All are updated appliances. There is also a hidden full sized washer and dryer. We have tried to think of all your needs right down to a full spice rack to compliment your culinary creations. Next in the wing to your right you will find your carpeted master bedroom. This room is faux painted a burnished bronze. It has a dramatic white king sized bed with a wrap around foot board topped with a Waverly floral comforter. I have carried the magnolia theme into this room. The room is complete with remote controlled TV and phone. The adjoining bath is reached by a short hallway that contains a walk-in closet. The bath is white and black tile with a very large walk-in shower. It has a circular spray. Just close your eyes and feel as if you are in a tropical shower. I am certain that drying off with the wonderful sunny yellow towels will put you in the mood for the day to come. The other side of the great room contains two additional bedrooms. The main spare room is a lime green accented with picket twin beds covered in wonderful green/aqua/yellow striped comforters. These twins can easily be combined into an additional king sized bed - just ask. Shells and a beach theme create the rooms atmosphere. This room also comes with a remote controlled TV and phone as does the next room. This bedroom contains a Murphy bed which drops from the closet. This room is an intense rose set off with white planter shutters and white cove moldings , it has accents of rattan. The decor here centers around orchids. Both suites on this side share a separate tiled bath with tub and shower combination. The wonderful thing about "The Rookery" is that all rooms except the murphy bedroom open by french doors to a balcony that overlooks the pool. There are five sets of french doors in all. On the balcony you will find a cozy seating area and an outside dining area complete with chandelier. The caged pool that overlooks the bayou is probably one of the most unusual features of the home. The builder's wife spent hours doing mosaic tiling. Bright yellow and vivid blue reminiscent of a Spanish hacienda enliven the entire area. The live fauna adds to the vision. This area also contains a gas grill and glass top table with chairs for card playing or a simple dinner poolside. We have not forgotten to save you steps; a small refrigerator is included to hold your beverages. Of course, there are also lounges to let you catch some of our wonderful sunshine.
